Well, I never get anything costume related from my friends and family. But I
do sew for them every year. Last year was very successful. I made long (to
the floor) robes out of cotton batiks. Everyone loved theirs. This year I'm
back to short sleeve shirts out of outrageous prints. My fave is

The only costume- or sewing-related gift I received this year was the
Winifred Aldrich book, Metric Cutting for Menswear -- which I *really*
wanted.
But I have more gift exchanges coming up (Twelfth Night, you know) so
hope springs eternal...

I got what I think may be the sexiest seam ripper ever - Gingher makes one
that looks like something that might re found in Stork Trek. Retractable
blade. Then the next box was the boxed set of Gingher scissors - score! And
the display case of Guttermann threads. Good thing that one of the child
My roommate gave me a small fabric sewing kit reputed to be an antique
Victorian one. It's a dark blue velvet with an old gold silk-type fabric
lining.
I was given two lengths of fabric I *wanted* during my recent trip to the LA
garment district by my friends.

This is funny — the Air & Space Museum has a monkey in a space
suit, which I got for a friend as "flying monkey." There are all
manner of toy monkeys available, and all you need to do is add wings.
The little vest and pillbox hat wouldn't hurt... :-D
