Hello Jae.
Are you by any chance in the US or Canada. If you are, send me an email right
now and I will call you and explain all of this as it would take a long time
to write out the answers. If you are not, perhaps we can make an appointment
to Skype (www.skype.com) tomorrow evening Easter

Hi,
Just joined the list. I am interested in building VistA for humanitarian
purposes so I can help local free clinics, meaning no money to fund
this effort. I'm familiar with Linux but not
much with database or Server/Client. I built 3 PC's so far with Win95,
Win98, NextStep, Linux, an

There is no one single answer. We all love the tools in which we work with.
Some extensively use Outlook as their mail, contacts, database, video archive,
and shopping list. Others will break those out and use new tools such as RSS
readers, IM, Wiki, etc.

Forum is both good and bad in this respect. The automatic threading
can make the volume of messages easier to handle, but the very fact
that replies aren't first class messages can be annoying and can
actually hinder usefulness. I frequently flag postings to Hardhats
and create different v
If you are using a recent CPRS and version of VistA, it is built in. It
usually tries to connect with the new broker and then defaults to the old if
the new does not work. It has worked with Windows for quite a while, but
only recently with GTM and Linux. You have to work with xinetd if you w

Glad you are feeling better. I have been a bit sequestered in the MUMPS
community, but one of the real glues that has held the VA sites together has
been VA FORUM. How this varies from your experience, I am not sure. But
the users are only presented the latest updates to the threads th
Actually, I thought that came from gin as in "cotton gin", or is it "cotton
gen" ? (Just checked. Dictionary say "gin", short for engine. ) So I
have been doing this wrong for a long time. I can't blame it on a typo.

The new version of the Broker is out, but I have not tested it using OpenSSH
on Windows. Since the VA controls what gets released and I think they would
use their VPN if they were planning to do something like this, it would be up
to the individual user to do this.

I do not quite know what/witch forum software you mean. I firmly
believe there is good forum software out there as the ubuntu-Linux
formus or Gentoo forums (witch I both find far better then the
Sourceforge Forums). What they use is vBulletin 3.0.7 see here
