Newsbin Pro, just went from V4 to V5.01. Great features for downloading
binaries, multiple servers.
Otherwise Forte Agent, free or paid, comes to mind.

I have put together about 4 systems with an Epox board over the past year. I
previously had been using a different manufacture for lower end systems.
Epox's latest one has Dixie Tube like error codes. Rounded cables for both
IDE ports, 1 backplane connector for 2 additional firewire ports, 1

Agent 3.2 not only support multiple nntp servers but also supports
multiple pop. This is in beta now & if you can't wait 3.1 supports
multiple nntp servers but does NOT support multiple pop.

I'm not sure, but could it be looking for the boot.ini file with a line
defining the location of the XP install? Is the boot.ini file

When XP is getting ready to offer to do a repair install, it says
"Searching for Windows installs." What is it looking for? I have a
machine with what appears to be a complete Windows folder, but it won't
boot, and booting from the CD only offers deleting the partition or

1) Yes, for use for testing apps, it's a great application. I'd test
everything in this environment first, especially if it's a unknown utility,
etc.
2) Correct. You can normally setup a VHD to operate behind it's own private
NAT, which locks it out, or you can lock it out of internet services

Boy Chris, I really appreciate your comments, it is lowering my learning
curve and making 'some' mistakes that either won't work or otherwise be an
utter waste of time because they were inappropriate.
Your comment that VHD and TV tuners etc don't work is something I did not
know ...

OK, so you're thinking about using MCE as the "HOST" OS (the OS in which the
VPC application runs) and XP Pro as a "GUEST" (the OS installed on a VHD as
example). This is fine. You can make VHDs for whatever you want, including
a VHD for MCE2005 (though it will be not very functional, as TV Tuner
