Hey guys,
Maybe one of the vendors on the list can help me out. I need to buy 8
sticks of PC 2700 ECC Registered CAS 2.5 RAM, 1gb each for an IBM JS20
bladeserver. The "official" Kingston memory is like $250 per stick. I am
sure there is a generic equivalent for around $130-140 each.

I have heard about this before. I think it is true. But, that being said,
it is not really about tracking you. I think it has to do with printing
currency and stuff like that and being able to track down the printer.

Sadly, too true... I read where they broke the Xerox code, but not HP's

They can indeed track the make/model and serial number of whatever printer
printed a particular page. So much for privacy, huh?? :(

It's true. I used to work in a high volume copy shop. Our laser printers
and copiers had protection mechanisms like these built in. Our copiers took
it one step better when it came to currency. If you tried to copy any
denomination, it would turn the entire photo copy yellow so you couldn't use
I think this is just for the color ones. What they do is print single
yellow dots, not usually visible except under close scrutiny or under blue
light.

What I heard was that there are 2 types of dead pixels.
The ones that are created during the manufacturing process and those that
occur after use.
The first can never be repaired, but the second are supposedly only stuck

Why is this news? This has been around for quite some time...
it's a good thing for helping to track down counterfiters... Think

BTK was caught because he used Microsoft Word and forgot (or didn't

Hi,
What is the consensus on TV capture apps. Currently I'm testing a couple of

Francisco,
You might check this link as I think they have expanded on a lot of the
existing features and added some. I haven't had time to really get into
mine yet other than the graphics have changed a little bit. According to
their site, though, it sure would be worth the 20 bucks or more.
I guess the link would be nice...

It's supposed to officially hit the shelves this Tuesday. But the reality
is, unlike DVD releases, breaking street date carries almost no fine within
the industry, so it happens routinely. Only the big manufacturers can
really put clamps down on release dates, and they do so by signing
agreements
