So it's just a matter of taste then, I think I will go with the matt screen. I was concerned one type might last longer or be more resiliant to damge, but if that's not the case I'm fin with the matt ones. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of

So why haven't manufactures switched to LEDs instead of inverters/florescent, which only seem to last a few years at best... Or doesn't that technology work for lappys? regards, al

There are laptops that are now just starting to come out with LED backlights. It's rumored that the new MacBook Pro will have it as well. Al Anger wrote: So why haven't manufactures switched to LEDs instead of inverters/florescent, which only seem to last a few years at best... Or doesn't

No rumor. The new Santa Rosa based MacBook Pros announced yesterday have LED backlighting. Apple claim there is no difference in brightless or viewing angle, but there is a 20% power saving. Engadget has a comparison. http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/06/macbook-pro-backlight-comparison-led-vs-c

I removed the hidden partition on my son's Compaq laptop without any ill effects. I do all partition work with BootIt NG. It doesn't make sense to put BIOS code on the HD because a PC needs to be able to start the boot process from the BIOS even when the HD is defective, or in case you want to
