Yes, and have read that when Westell comes in "bridge" mode, most of the internal features are disabled. Just do not know what will arrive. We will all know next week some time. I do plan to share when questions/ glitches arrive, or, before. The basic plan is plug it in and try and make it wor

Yes, understand. I will wait for next week to figure out what's what. Have to wait to see what arrives. Personally, would love the 10.x.x.x on the back side of the modem. Would make it a shoe-in! I can hope! :) Have already built a conversion table for if I have to re-address my LAN if necess

Similar Westell here in "bridge mode" to a Linksys WRT54GS w/ DD-Wrt firmware working great. Seems to be their standard modem with multi-client NAT & basic router+firewall if you want to use it that way. Personally no matter what the tell you, I suggest bridge mode since it brings a live IP you

not sure if this helps or if I can explain it correctly but I have a customer with one of those modem/router deals. it is set up to DHCP to a router which has it's LAN side all fixed 10.x.x.x.. while the router comes in with 192.168.0.2 or something like that. Not sure if that was configured or

Thanks Richard, Yes, I plan to play this one out by the learning I got from this List back in 99/00 when setting up the 1st go-round. Plan to treat the modem as dumb and go from there. Now, I am trying to figure out how to cancel my current dial-up isp. May leave it active for a while more...

This is what I mean. I also read about all the features in the new modems. That's why initially I tried to configure everything. But it didn't work. So I reset the modem and my router and just configured it as if it were just a dumb modem and configured my router as you would normally set one up (I

True, I do have lots of time to play. But I still remember how my "play" of years past really dorked up my LAN. LOL! Assimilated I may become also.. Actually, am amazed at how complex these xdsl modems have become. The Westell 6100 reads as though it is a single LAN port router with inter

sure new stuff is better but when I assigned fixed ip's and turned off DHCP in my router I could NOT get to the WAN. LAN worked fine. Pretty sure it was something I did wrong but I just assimilated and went DHCP. I can set the router to reserve ip's on the lan side so in affect fixed ip's with D

Yes, Wayne, do understand that the 192.168.x.x series is one of the 3 private IP series. Order went thru last night. Install kit is due here 10-16-07. Excitement increases! Suppose I'll have to review some more fundamentals. Yes, the new router also came with a default IP addy of 192.168.0.
