Thanks LubomÃr Cabla for those links.
I used to have personal notes somewhere that I had a drive
as low as 500G that required a firmware update.
That seems to be confirmed in the links below.
I flashed all mine proactively BEFORE they might have become bricks.
Seagate has a link buried on their

I need it for my NAS and don't need blazing speed, I need cool running

Should I get the Barracuda LP series or the WD Green, or the new highly
touted Samsungs...?
Should not be a problem

I now use Fiber Optic service. I am not up on all the terminology yet,

OK. Perhaps Netgear is not program-focused on WD drives. I'll accept
this. They do so push enterprise level hard drives. In a NAS focus I
understand this.
Zool,
If the focus is the new 4K sector format business, then this is brand
new to me! I only became aware of this last month.
In my operation, this issue is a Non-Problem. I do zero

I am open to other code/logic, but ATM I only need to speak about my

Gary,
I use the Backup utility included in WinXPro.
I assume that nobody on this list does due to it being MS.
Was hoping somebody had some experience with this canned
program. Nothing more.
Was willing to go off-list for further traffic. Suppose I need some help

Best,
Ahhh...there is nothing wrong with the backup utility included with
Windows. I thought I had read somewhere it is basically a stripped down
version of Backup Exec. Not sure I would be much help on anything specific
as I have not used that one exactly, but I used to do server backups when
