Dear Hasafran Mailing List,
I am a Public Librarian, who happens to be Jewish, and is interested
in Judaica. Although, I do not work in a Jewish Library, I enjoy
reading the professional as well as the personal chatter. I have used

I honestly don't think we need categories -- so much to
remember. Carefully worded subject lines should be enough to inform
list members as to which e-mails we want to read and which we might
wish to delete without opening, based on our individual interests.

Excellent idea Steve! But it would be good to reduce the number of
categories to about 1/2 dozen for the sake of simplicity and ease of
remembering them when sending an e-m to the list.

Dan, if you want graphics in ads, then you run the risk of embedded

I don't have much to add to the positive kudos and suggestions put
forth in the last digest. They more or less reflect my favorable
impression of this very useful, broad-minded resource. I receive

interest. However, I see that

I also agree that subject lines should be as specific as possible.

I have been reading this thread with interest and debating whether to
weight in with an opinion until I read what Lisa Silverman said and that
triggered a pet peeve of mine. First, I enjoy reading Hasafran. It

The issues and shared information on Hasafran should relate to
professional concerns. Sharing life cycle events is also important
because we are all colleagues in this organization and such relate

Just a humble suggestion.
Perhaps it would help subscribers if posters were to
use bracketed classifiers to identify the type of
message being posted. After all, librarians are the
best suited to classify information. ;)

I do get annoyed with some of the ads. A few of the vendors don't
even use the rules of good English and visual appeal. Even in an all

vendor to deliver the goods when they can't even write a clear advertisement?

Dear Safranim
I agree with Lee's comments. Being based in an academic library in the UK, I
find ha-Safran very useful on occasion and it's interesting to hear about
what's going on in the US, as we have such a small community of Jewish
librarians over here. However, a lot of the postings aren't r
