Hello Histonetters,
Does anyone have FUNGUS control blocks they would be willing to share or trade
for some other type of control blocks. I have some really good AFB control
blocks or Hpylori blocks if anyone is interested.
Thanks,
Tim

Good Morning,
I have a pathologist that is not happy with the fixation on some of our LEEP
specimens. She swears its histology doing something to the specimen to cause
the tissue to look unfixed on only "part" of the LEEP specimens (all the same
client specimens). She claims we must be
When you fix the slide in 10% formalin you will have to perform AR.

Hey Banjo,
Yes, I have been inspected without any real representative from histology.
My current employer sends a Pathologist, PhD and the AP Manager
(Cytotechnologist with no real Histology experience) to our CAP inspection.
The person really doesn't need to know anything about Histology
I would place a piece of both the Nevus and the Melanoma in my control block,
it should give you peace of mind that stain is working. The only problem I see
with using a known MITF positive Melanoma control would be under staining cases
that have weaker positivity.

Hey Mary,
The problem is not the machine, it is the reagents sharing that is the issue.
You can use different reagents and protocols for the Histo and Cyto slides and
on the same instrument. You might even get away with changing your Alcohols
and filtering everything else and see how that
Good to know that I am not the only on that think Rene is negative to others.
Hey Rene it's not just one person that thinks your a dirt bag.
