To be fair, a batch of slides for Leica is actually 270- slides, It can run
9 racks at a time, but, the 9th rack from start to coverslip is 3 hours+
You can always skip the on-board oven and place your slides in a slide dryer
I agree with William tape from anyone else but Sakura is not worth the time and
effort. We were just CAP inspected and they said nothing about tape. I have had
issues with tape and usually just cut around the sample on the tape and recover
on a slide, works beautifully. As far as the oven time
to have glass coverslips
and the Prisma glass coverslipper is a bit more finicky than the Leica.

Hello fellow histonetters,
Does anyone have a procedure for validation of a new HE stainer, if you do,
can you please share it with me?

I have a Leica autostainer that is capable of several different programs,
including dehydrating/rehydrating. I use it to counterstain my IHC so the
hematoxylin does not mess up my IHC stainer. I like this stainer because it is
easy to use and maintain.

Looking for suggestions on an automatic HE stainer for a research lab. We
really only do HE's on new cases every few weeks but are considering
purchasing an automated stainer to save on technician time for the prep of IHC
slides we currently do manually.

I will give the Leica coverslipper some love herewe do not really have any
problems. We put the rack in and go do whatever until it is done. I do not

Hi,
We are currently looking to switch out our linear MKII stainer for either a
Leica XL autostainer or the Sakura Tissue-Tek Prisma. Any recommendations?
Are quantity of HEs is increasing and we need adequate equipment to meet
our workload. The incorporated oven seems excellent on both stainers.
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone out there is using a Sakura DRS-601 Diversified HE
Stainer. We are having trouble setting up an appropriate HE staining protocol
to have stains come out correctly. If anyone uses this instrument and is
willing to share their protocol / times / solutions
analyze with Chi a square test where the theoretical frequency is
P=0.50.
As simple as that.

It's really a non-hassle, state of the art piece of equipment.
