Hi,
could anyone send us some Helicobacter pylori control tissue?
The commercial slides are disappointing for us...they cost a lot and not every
slide has the bacteria.
We are a small lab and just started doing GI..I just need a small piece of
tissue until we have a positive specimen to use for
All - thank you for the education! We're waiting for a definite response from
the manufacturer and will offer an Alcian yellow while we wait...

Hi Guys-
Does the routine Helicobacter pylori IHC staining generally stain the whole
spectrum of helicos?
We had a clinician ask specifically about the helmani and we're waiting for a
response from the vendor but now I'm curious, too!

It is polymer. No endogenous biotin-problem.
The staining looks quiet specific. It is confined to cytoplasm. And there are
clear negativ cells beside faintly stained "

(-), especially if all were stained
in a single batch.
I think it would be very odd if the organisms are not seen but they generated
so much toxin that it went into the cells.

Hello,
We use what is pretty much a diff quik stain, the stain is called QW and it
is from poly scientific. The procedure is really easy. Deparaffinize,
alcohols, methanol, water and then we do 15 slow dips in the QW2, 15 slow
dips in the QW3, wash in water, 2 quick dips in alcohol and then dry

The reason why the pathologists are usually reluctant to use (+) cases, is
because if they are used as a (+) controls they will be probably used up

Thanks everyone! I also thought that we should be using positive patient
controls but our pathologist wasn't to keen on the idea for some reason.
But now with all of your responses maybe we will be.
Thanks again!
