Exactly - my statement was that you could not even do it. Doesn't the DMZ
box assume the IP of your wan, rather then an internal IP?

That is an extremely bad idea, and is also unnecessary. You have just put
out a sign saying "Here I am, Hack Me Baby!". Without NAT or a firewall to
protect you from incoming threats, your box will likely be quickly
compromised. Just forward the necessary ports, keep NAT up, and turn off
firewall.
