Hi list!
I'm still having problems using rcon.
Below are all(I think) relevant details.
What port does srcds use for rcon? TCP or UDP
I'm running multiple instances of hlds with no problems whatsoever.

Ah, well in that case my guess would be that it has something to do with
the FreeBSD scheduler and HyperThreading/SMP handling. I noticed via
top that the CPU the process was currently running on would shift
randomly, so this was likely the source of
If /proc doesn't exist the engine tries to calculate the clock speed
using some assembly instruction magic, but on a busy system (if the game
can't get two scheduler slices next to each other in about 10 attempts)
then it just gives up and prints that error. This functionality has been
around since

Wow i didn't even think about that. I mounted /proc as linprocfs and
it's working flawlessly.
I'm still a bit curious why it is an intermittent issue where it starts
50% of the time without /proc, and why it did not do this before the
last update, b
Make sure you enable linux /proc support in your emulation layer.

My three test servers are still on the master list after 125 hours for the
two servers behind a router and 100 hours for the server on it's own IP.
Removing the high-res timer appears to have solved this problem.
None of the servers stayed on the master list more then 40 hours before
this.

Well,
Without looking at the code, it's hard to say what exactly is causing this. One
cause might be assembly code which does not have GNU-stack marker.
This could be fixed by compiling with the -fPIC/-fpic flags. Not sure
the effect this would have on running it on older distros, but it
might

I found this issue was to do with selinux.
Try this command first as root I believe "setenforce 0" then try running the
server, all should be well.
If that did work then you will need to either set selinux to disabled (edit
/etc/sysconfig/selinux) or learn selinux in more depth to make hlds (also
This is a "bug" in FC3 and FC4, more precisely people using SELinux. A
quick google of "cannot restore segment prot after reloc" produces lots
of hits with suggestions on what to do.
