I'm not speaking for valve, but I'm guessing when they started the
original design they wanted to stick with 32bit architecture.

When you want to go 64bit native code, you have to change alot of
things around (timecode etc) plus they want to do windows 64 server code.
Before you decide to flame valve, at least understand the complexity
of transforming x86 to x64.

I can confirm this. Not for DoD, but for CS 1.6. Oddly enough, some of
our clients are still able to connect.
The problem is not specific to 32 or 64 bit servers and steam client
logouts don't seem to fix it.
The errors in the console are the generic "No Steam Logon" ones.

that should now be fixed...

Yes, that's what I was saying, I was being sarcastic! It is defiantly not
the correct answer. That's like say you go to the shop to get your car
fixed, you pay good money for it, then they tell you, it'll be done
whenever. Could be tomorrow could be next year, in other words we could
really care le
Sure, I understand this, my issue with it is that I run a GSP, and VAC2
won't work unless you are running in 32 bit mode, which makes all my
customers complain they aren't running VAC2 etc etc if I run them in 64-bit
mode. I could care less as I feel that VAC is pretty much worthless in
general, bu
No, actually, what the fuck kind of condescending answer is that?
X64 has been around for quite a while now and people have been asking for
the same amount of time. If you don't have a clue then say you don't
goddamned know don't sit in your office shooting your mouth off about "when
it's ready." M

There might be a legit reason for not updating. Besides the fact that if its
not broke, dont fix it. Its also that fact that when you update or fix
something, you usally break something else. This is very well known with
valve and early steam lol.
Gotta love these type of responses, I understand things take time, but this
thing is showing last update of:
Protocol version 47
Exe version 1.1.2.5/Stdio (cstrike)
Exe build: 15:00:17 Jul 21 2004 (2827)
I guess it takes a year to update it...LOL... funny stuff.

Have you tried a clean install of HLDS? If you have then i dunno. Have you
tried running the server without metamod? Just default? If it doesn't crash
then try getting a uncompiled version of metamod and compile it yourself.
Its not that hard. It

ps au does it for me. But i was running some linux performance programs.
They log averages. During heavy load and light loads of the day. But during
heavy loads it shows my machine running a 26 slot dod server, a 2nd 26 slot
dod server, 16 slot CS

By average load I assume you are referring to the 5minute average (the 1st
number out of the 3 along the top line of 'top'
If so, that does not represent CPU load, it represents how many processes
are waiting for cycle time iirc.

ohhh riight. Can't wait to get it and play around. But i bet it wont be that
much different then the release of CS:S. That was a bad night. For client or
server. So many weak servers running 64 man pubs. I mean they were Pentium
3's with 64 slots.
The server will be made available a couple days before the client
release, details will be posted to this list then.

Random crashes...
Previous installs never crashed. Only the latest. I tried the -beta
linuxbeta switch. But it still crashes. I have 8 servers running, so in
average its 4-5 crashes per server per day.
I do restart the servers 06:00 every day.
