The first error is a destruction order problem, it doesn't effect server
operation in any way (so ignore it :) The second isn't a leak, it is
just pointing out the game events key values aren't explicitly deleted
on exit (which is fine, you are exiting :)

I experienced this bug today, good thing I used the search function
before I sent the e-mail.

Who wants to get a project going on Sourceforge... use the source SDK and
write our own server.
Possible?

Like the good old times.
When Valve was forced to ban this one guy off the list.
What was his name again? Darn I forgot. If I recall correctly he jumped onto
this one guys back, Hounddawg or something along those lines. :o)

Agreed,
Alfred and all other serveradmins who take their hobby/job serious, keep up

Well, to defend Alfred, he have stated it several times before that it is
not top priority to get VAC2 to work on 64bit. Allthough the way he wrote
it can get interpreted as kind of besserwisser attitude.
Also that kind of language is not getting you anywhere other than to piss
someone off. A mor
Please join the hlcoders list. We are working on a SDK update now that
will get VS2005 working by default. There are also articles available on
developer.steampowered.com that tell you how to do it yourself.

Valave has no responsibility to you whatsoever. If you are foolish
enough to install a binary blindly, then you have your cake - why not
eat it in the bed of ignorance you lie on. If you were half the GSP you

I do agree about the SDK. We are (a team with ~6 members) creating a mod and
we need to buy a VS2003, because VALVe has no free time to fix things with
VS2005 (that one is free as you know).

"BETA" is
Wrong. Read back in the mailing list a bit - I posted the valve press
announcement from 2003 where they said 30% or more and it will get better. We
saw a lot more than that and it was great. Then bam last june valve puts out
vac2 with no 64bit so we are forced to run 32 bit. What does that m

"BETA" is the status of what they call "STABLE". STEAM_0:1: up for
grabs. Contact offlist.

Steam/Valve does not charge a license fee to allow you to host their games.
If it doesn't work right on linux then change to Windows.
One-time fee $130 for WinXP Pro 64-Bit:

He does have a point. Without GSPs and other companies hosting servers
for their online only games, they'd have to either host the 60,000
servers (or whatever # they are) themselves (in what, 5 continents?) or
they could just kiss multiplayer development goodbye. What good is a

First thing you are wrong: Valve isn't supported by nVidia nor by ATi, yes
HL² was optimized and built on Radeon card period that's all their is.
Second were you forced to run the BETA? No, it was a free choice.
Third I really don't see how you or your company can fund Valve.
Fourth Alfred can only
I agree, don't really see the need for 64-bits that badly. You would
gain a couple of percent performance 5% tops I would estimate.
My thoughts about HLDS on AMD64:
None of the integer arithmetics does really need 64 bits since they were
first written for a 386 (32-bits)

Personally, I've heard of a few blackhats looking into jacking the source
codes, I am pretty sure if they ever pull that off they will begin their own
builds of HLDS / SRCDS.

any GSP on the planet and we're using it to support companies that support

Hahah What's the deal today! Must be a full moon out or something.
Dude chill It's free, it's your choice. If you don't want to run

Intead of releasing a crappy server update every few days, why not wait a
few weeks and release one that actually works? Just an idea.
