With the recent SRCDS update for Counter-Strike: Source, I thought it would
be worth mentioning a few other resources available for Server Admins:

Since the update, when using -autoupdate, it doesn't find an

So, if I have an installation at /myinstall/ and I go into /orangebox/

Hi,
I got that error last week when the Valve servers were overloaded.
This was a TF2 server instance. I checked the binaries manually and
moved some from a functioning installation while waiting for Valve to
fix their update servers.
The files that got corrupt were in the orangebox/bin directory
Hello,
Sorry for the flurry of e-mails today. Hopefully I'll get these issues
straightened out soon and everything will work again.
I just did a clean install of CS:S. It's a vanilla server with SourceTV
enabled and no plugins or addons. The server starts up just fine, but then I

I can confirm that it takes many, many tries. I'm attempting a clean install
of CS:S in its own separate directory to see if it solves the crashes I'm
experiencing. The first time I ran the update command, it downloaded all of
the hl2 and orangebox stuff, but it didn't download *any* CS:S file
I noticed a few changes happened (at least on my server) with today's big CS:S
update and thought others might like a heads-up...

Vanilla CSS server runs fine on me at linux. Just make sure your server
is properly updated (run -verify_all many times)! Notice that the
directory structure is now different. What used to be

so do not try to start it at wro

Despite setting tickrate to 100 (-tickrate 100) in the launch command it
appears that the new orangebox css only runs at 66 tick. All of the servers
I've joined are the same. Is this just a side-effect of orangebox? Are there
any plans to change this back?
Thanks!
Are you running the ./srcds_run in the orangebox folder, if not chances are
you are running the pre-update counter-strike source, move into the

Nope, no plugins. It's pretty much a vanilla server. The updater
downloaded the new version of the game into the /orangebox/cstrike
directory, and all I did was copy my server.cfg and motd.txt files over
from the old cstrike folder. I already had TF2 installed, so it's
sharing the orangebox

Hi, I've run the update tool several times but when I launch the game it
says restarting for update. I've done this on multiple machines, I'm running
debian lenny amd64.
./steam -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir . -verify_all

Just a quick update: It looks like this crash happens as soon as a
player joins a team. T/CT doesn't seem to matter.
And here's the command line in case it helps:
./srcds_run -game cstrike +ip 72.237.4.31 -port 27015 +maxplayers 16
+map de_dust +sv_lan 0 -debug

Hello,
I updated CS:S and now it keeps crashing. The server starts up and
players start joining very quickly, and then it suddenly crashes with

A required update for Counter-Strike: Source has been updated. Please run
hldsupdatetool to receive the updates. The major changes include:
UI:
- Added the following cvars to allow players to customize their scoreboards.
- cl_scoreboard_ct_color_red
- cl_scoreboard_ct_color_green
- cl_scoreboar
Intriguing. Does anyone else think this could be the long awaited engine
upgrade? ;)
Better question: Will it be ready?

How would bunny hopping and surfing not work on tickrate 66? I have already
played on many tickrates 66 servers and I could do both fine.
Also, TF2 has been with tickrate 66 since it's release, and you can bunnyhop
(but you don't gain much speed) and surf just fine too.
