Third?? this has

A writeid should do just that; write the bans in memory to the file. If
there are no bans, then nothing should be written to the file! At most it
should do an append, not a complete overwrite, and you get a couple blank
lines at the end of the file.

This is the second or third update that has caused this error with DOD.
You have to delete the file and rerun the updatetool to download it again.
then the server will start normally.]
Why does it keep happening?

Okay after the latest update fixing the shield-invincability bug, I thought
I'd give them a chance. So I removed them from the restricted list. Server
crashed less than 10 mins later. And crashed at least a dozen times through
the course of Sunday afternoon/evening.

Is this cheat script still effective?
I thought I remembered that it was rendered useless in one of the recent updates, but
I've seen many people still rapidly switching weapons (awp/pistol most often)
and not to allow any ports except those necessary.
Running HL is no less secure than running a webserver... (actually, it's
probably more secure than your average webserver...)
And you don't need a HL server to ping flood someone, all you need is an IP.
If your office is on the net, anyone could
Since you are using linux... go grab HalfD.
It has ability to do punishments for using certain weapons. And it's a damn
fine program for other things too.
So restrict it with adminmod, then set halfd to kill/ban/whatever whoever
works around the restriction and actually uses the weapon.

I would say repeated skywalking is defintely bannable.
It's exploiting a bug in the map to give you an unfair advantage. Just like
popping thru the ceiling on assault or oilrig.
The random up/down models is a glitch, but you can't do it on purpose (that
I know of). And often, you may see the play
So it would seem the wanted options are;
1. non secure
2. secure with
a. option to kick only, no ban
b. option to kick and ban, with
1. option to report to global
2. option to use global list.
That about cover it? Sounds like it's just getting more complicated...

After you detach the screen you will end up back at shell prompt. And you
can log out normally.
Then you can log back in at any time and do
screen -r
and you will be right back in to the console.

Actually easier than you think..
Since you are running the HL client to watch HLTV, you can rcon to your

throw that in a cfg file and exec it from console while you're wat

My suggestion is to read the documentation again.
Both questions you asked are answered quite plainly in the HLTV-readme.txt.
In short; RTFM.

HLTV takes up a regular player slot, not a spectator slot.
no need to turn spectators on.
But yes you can limit spectator slots if you have it turned on. I don't
recall the svar at the moment, sorry.
