I have a rather unique network setup (multi-homed nic+an outgoing PPPoE DSL connection), and I get this occasionally ... what seems to work is bringing up the console and typing "ip my.outgoing.dsl.ipaddress" (e.g. primary gateway), and then I'll be able to connect fine. I wouldn't rule out that
