Hi,
I noticed that the banned_user.cfg is empty, after killing the srcds
process. With the quit command everything is okay. But just after
kill PID the file is empty.
Is there a way to kill a srcds process without emptying the file?
Cheers
Marcel
Hi,
Add:
writeid
writeip
to server.cfg

Hi,
these commands are executed after banid and then the bans are in
banned_user.cfg.
BUT when I kill the srcds process with kill SRCDS_PID (SRCDS_PID = pid
of srcds process!) the file is empty. Try it.

Dear All,
Got a ban list which is almost 10kbytes long, now every time my server
crashes and it tries to reload the banned_user.cfg file I end up with an
empty banned user list.
if I try to execute a backup manually I get the response :
exec backupbanned_user.cfg
Cbuf_AddText: buffer overflow
and
, exec bl2.cfg etc that should solve
your problem

Matt White

That should do it, for a temp fix.
But it would be mush easier to nicely ask Valve for a fix, beacause
newbies
like me mabye having troubles doing such a script. And you should have a
possibility to have more than 200 bans on your server default without
searching the net
10 kb is to much for the SourceEngine! U get this overflow-error. Only
8192 byte per cfg-file is allowed. VALVe have something todo! :)

Hi,
during the CSS Beta i could bann TA/TK and with writeid the SteamID's were
saved into the banned_user.cfg
But now, in the banned_user.cfg there are this entries !!?
banid 0 UNKNOWN
banid 0
I think this is related to a general STEAM glitch where the player is
not always immediately identified on entering the game. For a few
minutes some players will show as UNKNOWN, but eventually their ID shows
up. I see this using HLSW too, and in all HL mods.
