The one inch diaphragm on a mic is the way to go. The bigger the diaphragm the better. The Marshall mics are great low end mics. I recommend either going for the MXL 2001/2003 or preferably the V77 tube mic. The tube mic makes all the difference. Run it through a Behringer two channel mixer an

The Birdalone publication is a reprint not a transcription. Yes, you are correct with your assumption. The Krufft & the Beethoven Sonatas are rather piano sonatas with an obligato horn part. Obviously, you are using the publication prepared by Edmond Leloir, as the original tonality is in E. We all know, that for most Bb-horn-players the tonality E is a finger breaker, so Edmond Leloir got the Sonata published as dowm transposed for a half step. It does not matter much, but E sounds a
