I'm in the same situation. I don't think they're at all going out of business, but the Giardinelli operation is now part of a much larger mail-order firm, and I'm sure they order the low-volume items infrequently and in batches to save on costs. I'm also waiting for a gold mouthpiece rim. I was

Does anyone know what the status is of Giardinelli mouthpieces? I placed an order for a few gold-plated rims in November and every 2 weeks they push the estimated delivery date back 2 more weeks. I guess the price of the rims really was too good to be true. +++ If

[Hornlist] Horn too small for hand?

How do you deal with a horn that's too small for your left hand? I've got fairly big hands and the valves on this new-to-me Holton (Thanks, Dave Weiner, for the info) are set particularly low. The low height combined with the relative small size of the horn and the valve placement means my

With string action, the valve levers can be adjusted upward or down farther. You could add a leather hand guard which would move you out a fraction; and you may need to curve your fingers as if grasping a ball loosely. This should move the tips of your fingers back a bit; quite a bit if your

I trust you mean K. 447. K. 477 is a vocal work written for soprano Nancy Storace. There is evidence that the traditional date of K. 447, 1783, is incorrect. Some scholars, including Wolfgang Plath and Franz Giegling (NMA), theorize that it is from about 1787 based on the handwriting,

Had a similar problem with an Italian compensator bought on E-Bay last summer. The paddles were far too low for comfortable operation and the mechanical valve action allowed no adjustment. Problem solved by cutting a wine bottle cork into 3/8 slices (after suitable disposal of the bottle contents)
