Why not taking two horns for a special program ? We had to take double, descant tuba to the studio often. That´s life. == -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of

[Hornlist] Lift Thine Eyes from Mendelssohn's Elijah - for 3 horns, recorded?

2008-11-11 Thread Steve Freides
I turned to the last page of my Horner method book and found Lift thine eyes from Mendelssohn's Elijah - a lovely piece for 3-part women's chorus, if memory serves, scored (and probably transcribed pretty literally, I'm guessing) for 3 French Horns. Has anyone has recorded this as written in the

I'm quite prepared to take two horns and a box of crooks if need be, but I'm not sure whether or not the violin concerto parts were intended to be played on natural or valve horns. Cheers, Lawrence lawrenceyates.co.uk ___ post:

[Hornlist] OT: Tuba in Bb or C

2008-11-11 Thread Brass Arts Unlimited
Steve, Look for a 3/4 sized tuba for your son. There are even some models out there with 4 valves, like the Meinl Weston model 11, which is even convertible to a marching bass. Yamaha makes the YBB 103 and 105, but they only have 3 valves (at least I think those are the model numbers.) The

I think that's the plan - Dillon Music has their own, Chinese-made, small-size BBb tuba that seems to get a lot of positive comments from people, so _if_ he decides on tuba (the other choice is currently piano), I think that's what we'll do. They sell for $995 and you can't beat that.

I just found out that Holton horns have a new website:  www.holton-horns.com.  It has all the info on Merkers, Holtons. and Farkas horns as well as a Phil Farkas archive link.  Not a bad site all told. Paxmaha ___ post: horn@music.memphis.edu

You're right about that. The period at the end of the url is simply the punctuation at the end of the sentence. Paxmaha From: Bill Gross [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: The Horn List horn@music.memphis.edu Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2008 5:31:43 PM Subject: RE:

We have a 30 unit M.M. in music here at the University of Idaho's Lionel Hampton School of Music. That could make a 1-year program if one took 15 credits a semester, which is possible if one does not have a Teaching Assistantship or other responsibilities. However, in all the years I have been on
