I knew someone else who valued the few drops of oil in the leadpipe every few weeks and I never agreed with that. The safest bet for me (and this isn't an option for everyone) is just once a month taking out all the valves and slides, giving everything a warm water/soap bath, and re-oiling

About oiling rotor surfaces, that is. The horn community needs to standardize on his recommendation. Then we will be saved from thousands of horn threads on rotor oiling that could occur in just the next ten years. Jonathan is correct-- this is the best way (authoritative words of Jonathan):
