I'm also a retread with a 30 year gap. Been playing again for almost 4 years
now. Accuracy felt like my biggest issue for almost 2 years. I did find that
playing the page on accuracy from the Farkas book and keeping written score on
how many and which notes I did not hit dead center helped a lot
I tried to place an order on the orf website, and they say that ordering is
secure (sicherheit). However the padlock symbol for secure site does not
appear, so I did not place an order. I did email them asking where to fax an

A year ago I decided I too wanted to record live performances of various sorts
with high quality. I searched and could not find anything other than mini-disc
that has a built-in mic preamp. There are plenty of memory- and HD-based units

I posted this on the yahoo list last week without result. Perhaps someone on the
Memphis list can help. I'm playing a loaned Mirafone L (yep, that's with an f as
written on the mouthpiece) and want to buy one - used or new. Thought maybe someone

intonation eveness, Bb/F side matching

I have sold a couple of horns on Hornplayer.net in the past two years. I did have
conversations with both people and they seemed "real". I took cashier's checks before
shipping the horn, with the added step of calling the bank the check was written on to
verify the check would be good. In both c
I got my copy of Marvin C. Howe's The Advancing Hornist by mail from Eble's Music in
Iowa City, Iowa. Phone 319-338-0313. I had it in 2 or 3 days.

I agree with getting a good horn person to go through the valves - esp. for
residual grit. There are many opinions on this very personal oil selection
question, but after you've gotten the problem resolved, I'd suggest you not
use an evaporating oil like Al Cass Fast, but go to Hetman Piston Oil or
