Tomböck played wonderfully throughout the concert in my opinion. The F-high
F was very fitting for the Haydn, at least for him. He made it sound
effortless (incredibly clean), but still with a warm, full, horn sound

Hi friends and happy new year,
I didn't see the Vienna New Year's concert but a friend is pretty sure
the first horn was not using a Vienna horn on Farewell sym. Any comments on
this I can forward. He is really wondering what WAS being used.

After Herbert von Karajan conducted the 1988 New Year´s Concert, Daniel
Barenboim conducted a wonderful romantic concert. The Vienna Phil sounded
incredibly sweet, velvet & light this year. And Wolfgang Tomböck . and his
colleagues . not only the single F Horns, but also the players
Bravo Vienna Philharmonic for a terrific New Year's Day Concert. What a
beautiful horn sound!
