I have long been accustomed, when I delete a VSAM data set
from ISPF DSLIST, to get a dialog, panel ISRUVPC9, where I
may supply options concerning details of the deletion process.
I find this a nuisance; I never do anything but press ENTER
and take the default behavior. I tolerate it grudgingly,

As I wrote earlier, if you identify ZZZ (which let us say is within AAA),
then you cannot get rid of it by DELETE of ZZZ.
You can only get rid of it by DELETE of AAA
Just as you cannot get rid of something in IPL-time LPA, you cannot DELETE
an IDENTIFYed entry that was added by an authorized
Hmmm, also looks like it will not search for COBOL code. If you go to the
advanced search page there is a drop down list of languages, seems there are
a fair number there, but COBOL is not one of them. A search of 'PERFORM
VARYING' resulted in no COBOL hits that I could find.

Several people have complained here and in their forums that COBOL is not on

However, it does seem to find COBOL. I think one problem with searching for

I ignored almost all of these posts about a letter to the FLEX-ES Community
since I had never heard of FLEX-ES before. But after seeing 50 new ones
added yesterday, I decided to read one. Sure enough - more pedantic off-topic
nonsense.
Where is the thread killer when we need it most?
Bill,
There were several posts that strayed off of the topic, but if you read at
least the first post on this topic, I think you'll find this very on topic.
Flex-ES is a PC that is fitted with special software so it can run the MVS
operating system. It is also fully licensed by IBM, which
Hi,
In support of Bill Fairchild's indictment of the thread entitled A Letter to
the FLEX-ES Community all I can say, as somebody with a vested interest in
both FLEXES and the ADCD program, is that the pedantic diatribe of spelling and
abbreviation corrections somewhat diluted the worthiness

I rarely delete entire threads as there's generally something of
interest amongst all the inevitable chaff. This one is of interest to a
lot of us - even though I personally don't have one, and don't have any
customers with Flex. Only time I see them is the IBM techos I bump into.

I had a similar problem many years ago on an MVS/XA system. What I did
was to create an alias (let's call it SAPQA1) for a usercatalog. I then
took the listing of datasets and wrote a program to create a TSO CLIST
that renamed the files from SAPQUAS... to SAPQA1... Once all the SAPQUAS
