Good points.
Design desire on my part is to get line mode data from z/OS to Linux. Like
what I would get if I did SDSF XD to put a SPOOL dataset into a dataset so that
I could then read that data into another program, as if I had originally put
the data into a dataset and ftp'ed the dataset to

I don't know if it would work, but I'd try to preallocate the PDS with the
correct RECFM / LRECL / BLKSIZE and then do a receive into the existing PDS
instead of allowing RECEIVE to create the DSN itself. That may work.

From the FM: While reading the member from the data set, a record longer

Simplest possibility may be that the transfer to the MF did not really work
correctly. Perhaps the transferred file is LRECL 80, BLKSIZE 80.
What did you use to transfer the file

Please follow the link below for a sample JCL of how to run ISMF storage

You will have to tailor the job to suit your installation standards.
Note that for space information, you have to change the SCDS name to

Of course, this is legal if RECFM=VBS, and can not occur if RECFM=FB.
(Well, I suppose if you had LRECLBLKSIZE in your DCB.

Yes, I believe you can just delete it, as long as the VTOC is currently in
OS format. There should be nothing special about it, just a simple
IEFBR14 or any other kind of delete that bypasses the catalog should work.
