Hi John,
Short answer is it depends on what you are trying to achieve. Can you
please provide me with some additional details?
According to the command example below, this will update the clients on
the stream, but not the actual stream dataset associated with the tape
and the clients.

Good Day All,
I have to extend the expiration period of some tape dsn created by EXHPDM.
They have been set to Permanent on TMS. I checked the manual but I am not sure
if it is the right command to use because of the SAVEGENS & WUNCAT parms:

We allow for 7 connections per job. We run 3 batch jobs concurrently. I
checked no changes have been made to the disks or batch jobs. I cannot confirm
if more initiators were opened. Since all operator commands have been
automated I would doubt that the operator would open up the initiators.

Can you expand on that? For instance, we would run one volume dump job for
each volume. Then I had 6 drives available and set as the DeviceLimit.
Then I allowed 7 connections per drive. So Exhpdm would support a total of
6x7=42 connection
So far, my checking shows no drives being unavailable. I asked Computer
operations but they said all was fine with the drives. We run 1 job at a time
which allocates 24 tape drives. Nothing had been changed. I am browsing
through the syslog, so far nothing.

Was something else running that was using one of the tape drives you

Willie,
I have always equated ExHPDM streams with devices (tape drives). Check to
see that all your tape drives are online and available. You might also
see messages previous to this one (SOV06045I) that would be helpful.

I noticed that the following messages appears for various stream tasks. Here
