We have moved our lpar from z114 to z14. Post that RMFGAT is failing with
SC78 and I don't see any other error associated with SC78.

PTF's to support the hardware just installed?
there are a ton of return codes for the C78 abend

It deletes, because it's a direct replacement, same dataset names, same
programs, etc.I've never needed to backout a version, but read the program
directory closely. It doesn't happen with every release, but in a few there
have been toleration/conditioning PTF's for the -1 version to allow
It is quite typical that new version replaces (deletes) the old one.
Usually SMP/E APPLY can be reverted by SMP/E, but ...I wouldn't rely on
that.
Even regular PTF with DELETE cannot be reverted.
What to do? make copy of CSF.** datasets.

Other than doing backups, I would also do a SMP/e BUILDMCS.
Here is an example:
SET BDY(FROMDLB) /* DLIB zone where HMP1E00 is installed */.
BUILDMCS /* Build the MCS and JCLIN */
FORFMID(HMP1E00) /* for the FMID HMP1E00 */.
Clone or take backups of the SMP/E environment, and apply to cloned SYSRES's
and/or target libraries.

Unfortunately there was no return code for SC78 abend in SYSLOG.
I have applied all the required PTF to support the new hardware.
This resolved after updating REGION size to 0M.

We run with the IBM provided RMFGAT proc that comes in SYS1.IBM.PROCLIB. It is
unchanged, and uses REGION=256M, MEMLIMIT=2G
What was on your proc before you changed it? I hate when REGION=0M is coded.
