BRODCAST with its 1 byte keys is probably the only data set using non-unique hardware keys. IIRC, the key values have the following meanings: * (I think) header with pointers to the first system notice and the first user directory blocks * free (available) record * system notice - operator

Yes, I left out that the SEND command listed below needs to be entered from an operator console (or SDSF session), not from TSO. BTW, the SAVE operation only works the way you described if the USER operand is on the command when it's issued from an operator console. Mark Jacobs Sent from

SAVE will save the message until the next logon, even if the user is presently logged on. And it will be shown and deleted then. I think what the OP wants are system notices, which are created with the operator SEND command. Those are listed for every TSO logon for all users, and are

I can't remember how to retain a message in SYS1.BRODCAST, that appears every time you logon. I haven't done this in years. I'm working on a, hold your breath, OS/390 2.9 system. I need to clone what that system has. Award-winning service

IEFBR14 does not allocate anything. The Initiator physically allocates a new DASD dataset before invoking the jobstep program, so it is already there when IEFBR14 gets control. For non-SMS, the VTOC will have been updated but not the catalog; for SMS datasets, the catalog is updated at the same

Hi, I haven't installed z/OS under z/OSMF, but I don't believe that being in a Monoplex will have any baring on the install. You'll have the same issues if using ServerPac - you'll need to IPL back to the old version to fix any issues when testing the IPL. I also understood that it was only
