SYSOUT and JCL. Apparently a stream is comprised of 1 of each. The only mention of DMTNTR030E that the MVS guys have dug up has a very long beard. It refers to S/370, VM/XA and RSCS 2.3. If they do have only one stream, I have a problem understanding why the link, at least the VM-->MVS part goes c

JR = Job receiver, SR = Sysout receiver. Similarly for JT & ST. IIRC, the RSCS STREAMS parameter is the maximum stream # to be used. With JES having SR & JR both set to 1, that would also be 1 for RSCS. Mike Harding EDS VM National Capability 134 El Portal Place Clayton, Ca. USA 94517-1742

Our MVS guy tells me that in JES, the values of SRNUM, STNUM, JRNUM and JTNUM are all set or defaulted to 1. How does this translate to a matching STREAMS parameter for the RSCS link? Regards, Richard Schuh

When using PAV (or HyperPAV) disks get multiple paths, allowing for more than one concurrent I/O to a single pack. Hence, bigger disks can get good performance too. But note that CP's paging does not benefit of PAV, consequently I/O to dataspaces (DB2 and SFS) doesn't benefit either. I/O done b
