Here we use rexec to z/VM and ssh to linux, from z/OS TWS

Have you asked CA? We have something called CA-7 CPS which schedules

Hi,
I am not sure about something and would like confirmation.

ESM is VM:Secure. I am able to logon to FTPSERVE and issue the LINK
from the command line and it works. Just for funnies I also added a
LINK statement in the user direct of FTPSERVE pointing to the mdisk on
SRG.
Still Permission denied.

Does the ACCT field have the WRITE password for the disk? That is a
requirement in VM. Also, since 191 is the default, you might need to
issue a CD 192 to access the disk.

Did you add these two commands to your VMSECURE AUTHORIZ CONFIG FILE?
Grant DIAGPCHK TO FTPSERVE

Thank you everyone for the help. As it turns out, this ended up being
the problem. I suppose I was too hung up on thinking that I must have
screwed up the IOCP somehow to consider that the CE left the CHPIDs
reserved.

Why, no, I didn't.
(But I did add it before replying to this email and that fixed it).
Onward . . . .
Thanks, Jim.

Just as an off chance, have you double checked your hardware configuration.
If the FICON card in the z/800 is a LX card (longwave) you must be plugged
into an LX HBA card in the 2105 and you need a singlemode cable. If the
FICON card is SX (shortwave) you need to plug into an SX HBA card and the

I do not have the answer, but I do have a suggestion. When you make
drawings like below, use a fixed font such as Courier or Courier New. It
makes them look so much better - and clearer.
+-LPAR A--+-LPAR B---+

You are correct - only the TCPIP stack connected with PRIROUTER would
see packets not addressed to its IP, and you'd need PRIROUTER for both
VM TCPIP stacks to do what you want... and there can only be 1! I can
think of 2 (well, 3) alternatives. First, if X, Y and TCPIP on LPAR A

the prirouter parameter is used if there is a packet routed to the osa
with an address not known in the oat. If you are using zvm 4.3+ (or
4.4+) + qdio osa and you cannot use vswitch I would use the PROXYARP
parameter in the ASSORTEDPARMS, but this works only if you have the ip

The problem is not one of knowing that the documentation is in the
manuals for the control units, it is one of finding those manuals.

IMHO, that's a bass-ackwards solution.
If they only handle 5 CCWs, then they should issue, at worst, a Command
Reject for anything else. Good Grief!
If they refuse, find out what they accept, and then give them a list of
the other 251 hex codes to ignore. You'd think they could count that
Not a command reject if they answer roll call saying that they are a

Thanks. I may have to refer to source. It would be nice to find the h/w

In the past I have written something like:
Please use a fixed font to display the following text.
That is a function of the mail program the reader is using,
not the sender. I send plain text.

Thanks for the pointer. The earliest manual I found there was for the
3490. It may suffice, but I doubt it. It will probably have to be 3480
or nothing.

I was able to dig the CCWs out of HCPTTP, so reference cards are not
needed. It would stll be nice if I could find the manual online.

I think, we shouldn't waste time in discussing Shimon's font settings. I
have put his picture through the clipboard into my editor and the
