Halt was not initiated to DASD DE33 because the device is not active

I think, but am not sure, that if you have done a DEFINE MDISK against that
volume somewhere along the way, that you see this. Look through the virtual
device configuration of all the usual suspects (MAINT, OPERATOR, the userid of
whatever does full volume backups, etc) or log them off.
But a Q SYS ought to show that, right?
The system was IPL'd about 4 hours ago as well.
Anyway, I checked operator, no vdevs there. Maint is not logged on.
The other systems programmers don't have it.
Weird.
I suppose I should open a problem with the support center.

Silly me - it would have shown up as CPOWN when you did the Q DE33 --
never mind :-)

No - DEF MDISK will not show 0 users - I just tested against an unused
volume on our system and it shows 1 user using the volume now...

Hi,
I am still working with this before I re-build system test system.
This LPAR does not have a console (need to get cables to connect it) so
I only have the HMC system console. I got as far as getting the LPAR to
load to this console and I see what my problem was (HCPZPM6705E) as I

Yes, you are on the right track, if you know the minidisk location of MAINT CF1
on your res pack.

Hi
I am having a little problem maybe you can see what I am doing wrong!
I defined the mdisk starting at 38 ending at 159 for my parmfile:
q v 195
DASD 0195 3390 53DRES R/W159 CYL ON DASD 514B SUBCHANNEL = 000E
When I trying accessing it I get this:
acc 195 x
Please make sure of your starting cylinder, ending cylinder and length
before you do format it.
Starting at 38, ending at 159 should not show up as a 159 cyl minidisk.
