You can call CPULOG as follows:

CPULOG 2 ( will run forever, capturing ever 2
I've already opened a couple of service link feedbacks, but beware using
the PSP bucket for zvm540/0901rsu. Two of the listed PTFs give the wrong
number. UM32638 (presently line item 4 in the bucket) should be UM32643
according to the APAR, while UM32648 (item 3) should be UM32649.

Hello Scott,
Very interesting!
We're in the software business!

Ok -
I have just been asked to verify that z/VM 5.3 has no requirements in
order to support ICC. I presume that means no configuration definitions,
software to install, virtual machines to define. There are so many
references to ICC in a search of the 5.3 library, that it will take a
lot of looking, a
Confirmed. If your familiar with the 2074, it works much the same way.
Definitions for the devices are made on the HMC for the ICC, and in the
IOCDS for the OS. VM will see it as just another local non-sna device.

Your presumed answer is exactly right... nothing special is required in
zVM. I've installed a number of systems (z9 and z10 using zVM 5.2, 5.3,
and 5.4) and generally use an ICC connected terminal as the OPERATOR
console and it comes up perfectly from the first (normal) IPL.It's just

I just wanted to let you that I was able to build the new system and IPL

You're correct. In addition, we use the OSA-ICC for prime and alt cras,
and locals. The systems see it as just another locally attached 3270.
We don't have any more real 3x74 or 3270 devices.

The biggest problem is handled by someone else, someone 100 miles away
from my location. I haven't done an IOCP since the early '90s.

I am just curious about the steps to configure the ICC console

There are two parts of the configuration: the IOCP and the ICC
configuration itself, and they have to match.
Most people are somewhat familiar with the IOCP part, but here is one
example:
