I didn't catch the beginning of this subject, so I might be way off. But...
Was "set srm stor(?) 300 300 300" or something similar discussed?
A novice VM user and many large guests...a storage problem.

You are all now formally relieved from suspension. BACK TO WORK, NOW! :-)
Mike Harding just pointed on a syntax error in step 8, now corrected
below. That error placed into the example as a proofreading test.
(yeah... that sounds like a pretty good excuse).
But... it has been reformatted even
Um... uh... you all FAILED!! You're all suspended pending a performance
review by a White House subcommittee on instantaneous professional
proofreading. Don't expect to hear from that subcommittee soon, they are
bogged down in other matters. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;-)

How are the PKI certificates configured on the z/VM system?
Using certificate authority or self-signed certificates?
Did you import the public keys for z/VM using the gskkyman utility of the
GSKADMIN machine?

Any chance I can get you to add this to wiki.linuxvm.org?

OK... let's summarize so that anyone searching the IBMVM-L archives can
find a more updated and comprehensive set of steps to adding a paging
volume to z/VM. Everyone does search the archives before asking
questions, right!!?
FYI: the IBMVM-L listserve archive can be searched from any browser

We didn't run any Jobs. We just played the minimal to officialize the
doc. The few batch we do was to restore our VTS. So, only batch

First, I would not give 8 virtual CPUs for each z/OS guest but rather start
with 2 VCPUs and see if the workload demands more. If z/VM only has 8
physical CPUs, you seem to have created a 8:1 virtual/real CPU ratio which
could cause significant overhead and possible thrashing.
Does z/VM 5.3 have
OK, but do they add up to more than 20G?
i.e. are you paging?

Also, if doing this on the fly, you need to find a free slot with QUERY
CPOWNED and then add the volume with DEFINE CPOWNED. Then and only then
attach the volume to SYSTEM. Defining cyl 0 as perm is also unnecessary
for modern releases of VM.

If you haven't done DRAIN, don't bother with START.
