Hi all,
is there a way to restore selected files from an SFS FILEPOOL BACKUP to
a different filespace or directory? The FILEPOOL FILELOAD allows only
for a different filepool id.

Hi all,
I have to setup the flashcopy feature at a customer's DS8K next month. I
know how to activate an additional feature code on this machine. At
least I hope for flashcopy this works the same as an activation of
additional dasds. This I have already done some time ago. When the

Hello all,
I have a question to the message above. The request error x'3A' (058)
says that the filesize limit of 4.3 GB is reached. I wasn't aware of
this limit.
I was on the way to convert some files from VTOC extent allocation to
space manager. Must I bury this for these large files or is
Colin,
is it possible, that the files are not closed properly? Try a 'FINIS *

You say that after an IPL CMS the error condition is cleared. this may
be an indicator for a not correctly closed file.

Anson,
you can also order it via internet delivery. The ptf number is always
UM97, e.g. zVM 5.3 UM97530, zVM 5.4 UM97540. There is
also a menu point of ordering recommended Service for zVM, There you can
get also the critical service ptfs.

the SET RUN ON doesn't hold the system when it enters the CP READ state.
You can set it dynamically by SEND CP vse-userid SET RUN ON. This

I do it because mostly after RSU there are Shared segments being

I can use the same spool volume in first and second level vm. At least I

what about another idea of maintaining zVM. I have no user data on the
zvm dasds, there is only the software and some config staff, which does
normally not change. So I can copy the zvm system (res spl pag) to other
previously reserved dasds and start zVM from there in second level. The
As far as I know the customer is not allowed to make any changes to the
software of an HMC. There is an upgrade process from the IBM support
which does it. I had one customer who has bought a used z800 with an
