There is an interesting article in Ancient American, Issue #13, entitled
"Who brought the Horse to America?" They believe the first horses were
Icelandics, abandoned by the Viking-Vinland Expeditions - 1000 AD to the
14th Century .

We have quite a few rattlesnakes, and if they trespass they are shot. I am
a long way from the vet, so I keep banamine, dex and antibiotics to treat
snake bites. I have successfully treated two horses and three dogs for
snakebites. If your vet will allow it, a good idea is to keep these drugs

Help again!!!
I have a 12 year old broodmare, Belle, that is in liver failure. Belle was
overweight but lost some before she foaled. I kept thinking she had ADR
(ain't doin' right), but couldn't put my finger on it. I know, should have
gone to the vet, but it's 50 miles from here in Bakersfield
This may seem abusive, but if you've ever had to lead a horse out through a
wildfire,it is a good skill for them to have. When I was a kid we did this
many times, and the horses (not icies) were always easy to rescue because
they were not afraid, even when we could hardly breathe for the smoke and
Is this the same as Centaur high tensile? I believe Centaur is a wide piece
of plastic with a wire running down the middle, and it stretches. I am
replacing some of my fences and need to go cheap, have something that will
hold my stallions, and be safe. I know, a lot to ask.

Hi all,
A rancher in my area has grown a lot of rye grass this year.
Does anyone know if this is a good source of grass for horses?
Somewhere in the back of my mind I'm thinking it is not good for
horses, but can't remembert why. Another senior moment...
Thanks for any advice,
Janet

One of my calm gentle mares freaked out on banamine. The vet said it
was an allergic reaction and to never give banamine to her again. I
have also heard of this happening with ace and
Last year my 12.5 hand stallion jumped a four foot fence going up
hill to romance and Arab mare. This years result is a realy pretty
colt, beautiful head, built more like an Arab, super temperament,
will likely grow into a good looking small Arab.
To me, breeding is generally a crap shoot.
