Build-essential is a meta package, I don't know if such rpms exists. Try
converting the deb using alien (Hows the trick?) But I'm not
I got a work from an institute in Kozhikode where they are using RHEL
as the OS. In one system (in which RHEL 5 i686 is installed), the NIC
card has not taken. So they cannot connect to the intranet.
After checking with lspci, I got the result as:

Thanks for the tip. I think it was really the problem with the cartridge
and not a Linux driver issue.
@Adhin
My friend mentioned that his cartridge was almost empty. I didn't know there
would be such an angle to the problem until you mentioned.
