I'm not entirely sure what exactly your problem is but I think I had a problem
which was very similar to yours. I could send files over bluetooth from my
laptop but could not receive any. So then, I un-installed gnome-bluetooth
and installed blueman . Now blueman has had no issues till

If you are sure which channel to connect try using rfcomm
rfcomm bind [bdaddr] [channel]
