In English, using "had" as past or past perfect tense
commonly implies that the condition no longer exists.
While it isn't absolutely proper, it is very common.
The MTRRs were inconsistent, but they aren't anymore.
The kernel fixed them up. Ev

HI,
I am quite new to Linux and have just installed zipslack in my system from
Slackware Linux.
I got the installers for Xfree86 4.3.0 from their ftp site and installed it
for x Terminal.
After installation and configuration, when I try to start it, it gives me an
error as below.
Xterm: error whil
Hi,
I hope your system now has two RAM DIMMs 64 + 128. That is bound to slow
down your system. Remove the 64 MB, and run using a single 128MB chip. You
will experience better performance.
As for swap, if you see the swap usage close to 170 MB or so then you may
create additional swap file - see [
Connection is through usb port...
I used Relience phone itself for testing...

Issue here is not, we can resize or not without reinstalling. Issues is,
we can add more swap in any form, without re-installing.
that we can
choose a favourite file name. example swap.txt
dd if=/dev/zero of=/swap.txt bs=1024 count=
mkswap /swap.txt
swapon /swap.txt
to permanently add swap, edit

I dont know if you can resize the linux partitions without reinstalling
the linux again. I dont think there are any partition resizers for linux
as such.

Well! the author is somewhat right. Because a virus written to
exploit M$ boxes will make them choke the network.
Secondly, If a Linux box is running an application on the "target"
port it will have to take the massive DOS of the exploited M$ machin

In my /var/log/messages there are sevral events like this.
mtrr: your CPUs had inconsistent fixed MTRR settings
mtrr: probably your BIOS does not setup all CPUs
Does any body help me on this.

thanks guys for your inputs. just went and kicked and some tyres on the
pc, and started by switching off services not needed, checked the swap
was *equal* to the ram, felt shaky about messing with swap size with
someone else's installed and running pc, and discovered its speed was
better.

A 700 MZh Pc is fast enough to run linux!!
It is a decent speed.
You now have 192MB ram and thus the swap partition should now be set to
around 384MB rather than just 200MB. It should work faster. Have hope, the
horse is not dead as yet- fit enough for a few more races:-)

check for other apps that may be eating up RAM. The stock installation
would have many services running which can be disabled to free up
memory. Also try using a light Window Manager. I run XFCE and
windowmaker on 128 MB RAM with 250 MB SWAP and can play chess while
running openoffice.

solutions today are constructed in an ad-hoc fashion. As a result,
different deployments include different components (clustering, Java,
security, database, etc.) to meet the varying needs of the higher-level
applications.

I am using on a notebook with RH9.0. the connection as such is stable
sometimes suckxxx. Reliance Connection is only good for Browsing, I won't
recommend that for Real Time Applications like VOIP etc.
