Thanks to all for the responses . I might be trying drupal and plone for the
same .
I want to clear the point which Ashwin has raised regarding the download
issue . I personally feel that knowledge should be shared but here I am
trying to put the knowledge which is properitery of our companie's .
yup, i forgot to mention, a content management system (cms) could also
do the job of KM. alas, the word 'content' is quite inappropriate and a
distortion, but that's another story.
meanwhile, a great CMS is plone. find out more at plone.org

i found several packages for K.M at sourceforge.net and freshmeat.net.
they come under various licenses, so you can find something that suits
you.
