Update: Got a new 7200 RPM hard disk installed, and put Lion on it. Now
it's been working like a charm for 4 days straight! :D

You should obtain a copy of "Onyx" and run the the option that looks like a
Hammer.
This application cleans up almost all problems that are OS related.
