First thing you need to know is what the highest speed your switch can
handle is, is it 10/100 or 10/100/1000? It doesn't do any good to put in
a gigabit media converter

That is what we did Karl. We replaced all our networking with HP
Procurve
and they have mini-gbic converter that go right into the switch itself.
No
extra piece of equipment.
