Not sure your platform, but for the love of all things holy don't use
authentication over the wireless. That has been the bane of my
existence for the last year and a half. Overall it is great when it
fast enough to please the proletariat. One con is that a cart has no
ownership and tends
Over the past few years at my previous school, we had several of Apple's
Wireless Mobile Labs, and were very happy with all of them. Came with a
very sturdy cart, HP laser printer, Airport Extreme, Apple Remote Desktop
software for managing and monitoring. We found it a pretty much turnkey
We have 28 laptops on carts that gets used in our elementary and middle school.
We have installed 4 Xirrus arrays in the buildings so we can connect wireless
anywhere but the custodian room in the basement. We do use the laptop for
testing with the students and have not had a connection
What are your thoughts on the Xirrus in comparison to other wireless solutions?
We just did a site survey at the HS here and are thinking about putting Xirrus
in place of the mess we have now. They really seem to be powerful AP's with
alot of extra functionality. What are your thoughts?

We will probably have them come in when we upgrade our wireless access points.
