I think install can have multiple predefined profiles so first set of questions can be reduced for a non-expert user. An initial set of questions made of: - hostname - IP addr - netmask - default router - root password can be enough for a quick install. Of course that there is another question (

So, if JAVA is only being used for the GUI, and isn't part of the slow response issues, is it perhaps part of the large memory requirement? If not, what is? I can't see the (Open)Solaris miniroot taking up more memory than the SUSE-based JDS used running GNOME, Netscape, and Scribus all at once.
