TP DX was not as good as it was yesterday but I did hear a few carriers. Only
one carrier was heard on the top part of the band and that was 1377. Carriers
heard were 531, 558, 585, 594, 603, 648, 693, 747, 774, 828 and 1377 heard from
1325-1410 UT. At 1403 UT the carrier on 558 was strong

Don't quite know where to start this morning. Upper band was best, mostly.
Not sure listing audios and relative levels really is significant, as
fades meant that something that was only a carrier might be
delivering two fair audios a moment later, 1134 being an example with

San Fernando is located on the West Coast of Luzon, and separated by
mountains from here. That is probably another reason VOA is not reported
often. Most of the Filipinos I have heard are either a water path (the

Paul,
I'm not sure about the French in your recording. But in the English ID I
recorded at 2242 UTC, the announcer clearly says: This is CJRS, 1650 kHz,
Montreal, broadcasting with a thousand watts...It sounded more like 10,000
here - much louder than Montreal-1610.

Patrick,,
As I stated years ago, there is a ridge of mountains that extend up the
east coast of Luzon Island. These block low-angle takeoff skywave, and
this is why one doesn't hear the Metro-Manila stations as commonly as
one would expect.
It works the other way. They block low-angle skywave
I'm wong? Okay. Then what large transmitter site does sit up
in the mountains...or was that a FBIS post? Somewhere around the

Mike,
That was the old VOA Receiver Site. It was used to take HF USB feed for VOA

A hot tip for those of us here in the Pacific Northwest.
KIRO-710 will be off for maintenance tonight at midnight PST. This from John
Price at Entercom in Seattle. He's not sure how long they'll will be off.
This might open 710 up a bit in this part of the country.

Sorry to be a bit incoherent this morning; suddenly realized that
work was calling, and was still trying to piece together a rather
fabulous 20 minutes or so of listening, before and after 1500UT.
Good to excellent audio: 594, 747, 774, 828, 1134 (2 audios KK/JJ),

Bill,
Is this the same beam that was used on 1143/1147.5? 1170 also have a
lot of co-channel stuff, besides US, there is a strong Korean.

Level 4 carrier on 1215 kHz this evening at 0415 ut. Have some sort of carrier
on 1197. Not sure if KEX signal is mixing with something else?
Carrier is stronger than the one on 1215. Has anyone heard any TAs this
evening? Maybe someone could check 1197. Thanks.

Dunno about Kvitsoy Nick, but there was a faint carrier on 1314 earlier this
evening. In fact there were dozens of carriers in, from a low of 531 upto
1575. Only managed to extract audio from 1134 and 1575. Plus the usual long
wave threesome.

Good going for you WC guys. Now if WOR and Rebelde would sign off at
