Not to mention the extremely high price ($150) for a simple "TRF radio",
one of the pictures shows all the components apparently being held in
place not by soldering them but using nuts and bolts! Who would want to
build something like that? Not me, even if the price were $29.95.

Hi KAZ,
The longwire was elevated 10' the whole distance. Critters chew up
anything on the ground that catches their fancy, here in the desert
(assumed to be packrats), so I can't leave any wire or cable lying on
the ground if I want it to last more than a day or two.:)

Hi Colin,
Yes, I thought of a CM choke as well, and tried one (with plenty of
inductance to work well down at LF)--no discernible change in the AC
hum! But the longwire is all down, supports removed, wire rolled up, so
I don't ever plan to try that failed experiment again. :)

This was the morning that made it worthwhile to get up early every
morning to listen; conditions were exceptionally good. All Asian. Many

Not as good as yesterday but still pretty good. An S9 electrical noise
buzz was off and on intermittently today; nothing weak heard while it
was on. All Asian audio.

Yes, mine sounded like yours, same approximate duration and cycle,
though I thought my pitch was higher than yours. And I never had HLAZ
very good today, though the pulser was somewhat stronger.

Very high static, not local, only going away 20 min before sunrise
hampered hearing weak signals. Conditions seemed better than usual.
Expanded band had a bunch of hets and 1611 produced very poor audio (for
a DU). Nothing heard for a pulser on 1566 today.

Many hets over whole band today but only a few with audio. Good expanded
band hets later but no audio. All Asian.

Just a quick early check and an end check; LF Pacific beacons were so
good today I spent almost all the time on them. MW had many hets over
the whole band at first check. Would have been the morning to record
everything for later perusal.

As with yesterday good LF conditions so only a quick first check and an
ending check. But some signals were still doing well at the end.
