I have been working on 2 different approaches for antennas to handle the
RF zoo I live in.
One is a dual spiral, 10 turns total and 30 diameter in 2 layers 1

think the main advantage of the
rod is the XYL irritation factor is lower. The best reception in the
house is in the living room and she's not fond of the idea of a butt
ugly gizmo in her living room.

I'd be interested in seeing a photo of that loop, and a schematic
and
gain buffers.
One of these days I'll have to post some schematics. Have to find a
proggie to do it with first since my hand drawn stuff may as well be in
hieroglyphics to anyone else. Anyone got any suggestions?

Should be an easy catch from here at night if non directional or aimed

Old trick on that one, making filaments last longer that is.
A diode in series with the center conductor drops the wattage of a 100W
bulb to about 82W and they last many times longer. Tungsten increases in
resistance as it gets hotter so even though the RMS voltage is 1/2, the
current is
Thanks for that tip Paul. Even at 150 miles it's a rare hit here on the
backside of their pattern.
Aberdeen being on the Missouri Basin might be heard at night as far as
Omaha to the SSW if they go ND with 250W.

The WNAX transmitter/tower sits very close to the Missouri River. Next
time I'm down that way I'll try to remember to get pics of it.
The night time pattern happens to line up with the river and I'm sure
the ground conductivity has a lot to do with the range considering it's
only 5KW.
