Nigel,
Great to hear from you. I was hoping that someone else would hear this
UNID Classical station. It was in last night here too, topping 1440 at
times, but still no ID. I have a cassette to play back, but I think it
faded at TOH as usual. The NOS may be KODL as they are in the jumble
too. If y
Patrick,
I'm about 95% sure you're right about it being KPTO. Just got back
from vacation yesterday so couldn't check earlier, but this morning (now
6:15 am MDT) the unID is running about even with Wetaskawin on 1440, on
top at times, and under at others. The music is primarily classical, b
Scott,
My gut feeling is KPTO now with the sunrise times put into play as I
mentioned in an earlier e mail. By 0500 PDT it is daylight that would
cut out anything from East of the Rockies. It must be KPTO stunting.

I set the timer to catch :58-:02 every hour and it was still in from
3:58-4:02 AM PDT and gone by 4:58-5:02 AM PDT, so it must be KPTO
stunting. Still no breaks across the hour I could tell, but it would
fade up on top and then drop off into the mud. But KPTO does fit,
especially with the sunrise t

I can't find any 1440 that has a sister FM classical station.
As for KPTO in Pocatello, it's owned by a guy named E. Morgan Skinner,
Jr. I don't know anything about him. I don't believe he's the same guy
who owns 1450 in St. George, notwithstanding the St. George PO Box and
phone number posted
It is now 0353 EDT 6/20 and they are back running non-stop regular
Classical mx again. They finished the organ music earlier. At 0400 TOH
they went through without any pause, just solid classical music. I have
set up the timer for the rest of the night. I will check in the morning
to see if I lucke
I am hearing the station again tonight with non stop Rel organ music.
Still no ID, but it is still coming in only off the Eastern beverage.

According to the FCC data base, the owner for KPTO-1440 is AM Radio 1440 Inc,
with a mailing address of PO Box 1450 in St George, UT and a phone # (435)
628-1000. As I recall, there's a station in St George on 1450, and the mailing
address is probably not a coincidence.

KAZ,
I wonder if any of the stations on 1440 have an FMer that is Classical?
I will try again in a couple of hours.

anywho.com has a phone number for "Radio 1440" in Pocatello (208) 234-7000.
Maybe you can give them a call and find out their status.

No, they're not back doing that. 1440 in Grand Forks is still sports,
and 1370 is Catholic religion.

Thanks KAZ. I fiqure whoever it is, it is a goodie. Only audible off the
Eastern beverage. The format sounded Classical AN, or at least mostly.
Around 0430 EDT, there might have been some very light jazz too, but on
the classical side.

John & Don,
Thanks. I am going to try again tonight and see if anything pops in. It
was only off the Eastern beverage. I could not hear a peep of it off any
other antenna.

Last time I heard it, the 1440 Grand Forks station (KKXL) was talk.
They and KDIS are a mix on 1440 here during the days with KDIS
generally on top. Can't hear KKAG at nite so don't know if they've
another format but suspect that a Classical format is too intellectual

They used to be share time with the station on 1370 (which was the college
station). Not sure what the situation is nowdays. Paul in Grand Marais could
no doubt inform us, or John in Grand

Paul,
That is what I thought. No College stations found, or anything that is
remotely Classical, Anyone know who has the CP for KPTO ID? Could it be
them?
This format sounded Listener Supported, or NPR, something along those
lines. A very low key ancr. I heard the station until I headed to bed at
No, they are owned by Clear Channel.
