Hi Jarod, and the list,
Thanks for the quick reply. I've tried running mplayer with the "-vo xv"
parameter and it seems to work better, but it was spitting out some errors
related to sound. I know for a fact that my sound isn't set up properly at
the moment, so rather than deal with that, I've jus

I've got a new FC2 install, and I'm following "Jarrod's Guide"

going fine, according to his steps, until it got time to test for capture of

John,
Here's a patch (attached) to YUV decoding which will make the YUV buffers fit
the data perfectly now, resized so as to have 5 of 0x00019500 size
buffers for NTSC and 6 for PAL. This should apply to 0.2.0-pre3 and 0.3.1
fine, or with little work, I've not had time to get it into both yet.
my information was based on the fact that it's just
sending it to the digitizer. If it's doing conversion
on its own, anything is possible.

I'm still back on 0.1.9, but could the fact that you are referencing /dev/fb/1
instead of /dev/fb1 be a problem?

Just another quick update.
It looks like 0x011a8600 - 0x01240400 contains a YUV buffer that is
displayed.
It also appears that this is in the mangled format that we receive from the
card.

Nice! Ok can someone update the main web page to make the archives go

I just downloaded ivtv-0.2.0-rc3 and after compiling I noticed
XFree86-4.3-incr-DMA-06.tgz in the utils directory.
Maybe I'm confusing myself, and thought that if you had the ivtv-fb.o loaded
you could just have X Windows us the fbdev server on the framebuffer.
Is it necessary to use XFree86-4.3

Please use the list.
Use
rpm -qV kernel-module-video
Nothing that I know of that would cause this.
The x driver hasn't changed for ages.
Try
ivtvfbctl /dev/fb/1 -prepdma
This should display an image that gradually gets darker on the frame buffer
and should prove whether ivtv-fb is working.

I decided to do a dist-upgrade and something broke. Thinking it would

Hello All,
I lost track of the firmware to be used with the latest driver releases.
It must be mentioned somewhere, but I can't find it.

Ok, you're right. It seems like version 0.1.9 already comes with Mandrake 10.1
and this is the one that loads...
For some reason, the 0.3 driver seems to get installed into its own
directory /lib/modules/2.6.8.1-12mdkcustom/extra
So now I need to figure out how to make the 0.3 driver replace th

I dont know about 100zz. How do i get it?
In many ways the safest might be to get the original
version again which is available again at

In 100z it looks like Chris ju

Yes. I am not sure what people are getting but
somewhere there is a v 0.6 driver that doesnt have the
ivtvdevmoduledata symbol in it and fails to load. So
they have got a v 0.6 driver from somewhere.
If they are using 100zz then yes they probably want to
be using the original one still.

There appeares to be a broken driver out there

I have followed the instructions of Jarod Wilsons HowTo and I could do
some simple tests, like recording TV to an mpg-file or playback with
mplayer, but I couldn't start X with the PVR350. X reports the following
